A Quick Welcome to Any Exiles

Just putting out a general broadcast for anyone in the Inverclyde area who might have recently found themselves locked out of certain exclusive, invite-only digital fortresses for the high crime of... pointing out basic geographical facts.

If your previous tabletop circle prefers treating a local hobby group like an underground intelligence cell, complete with secret handshakes, closed doors, and absolute bans on mentioning that building houses on a sodding floodplain might result in damp carpets, you are officially welcome to drop anchor here.

We don't do invite-only secrecy, and we certainly don't ban people for possessing a rudimentary grasp of how water works.

If you want to talk miniatures, organise games in the open air (preferably somewhere above sea level), and actually let new people join in without needing a security clearance, pull up a chair.

Consider this your amnesty. Carry on.

Community Notice: Historical Reenactment vs. Actual Fun

Right, let's clear this up before someone accidentally walks into a scout hall and ends up spending three hours listening to a retired geography teacher explain why the French cavalry charges at Waterloo were technically sub-optimal.

We are aware there is another local outfit operating under a similar banner in the Greenock and District area. To save everyone involved a profound amount of awkwardness, please note: they are strictly historical only.

If your definition of a good evening involves painstakingly painting eighty identical pewter buttons on a 15mm Prussian infantryman, calculating historical weather gradients, and arguing about brigade formations from 1815, by all means, knock your socks off. We wish them and their beige cardigans all the best.

However, if your hobby actually requires a tape measure, a mug of coffee, and rolling forty-two dice to see if a chainsword can cleave a seven-foot genetically modified super-soldier in half, you are in the right place.

We deal in heresy, green skin, giant robots, and actual sci-fi and fantasy nonsense. If you try to debate the muzzle velocity of a 12-pounder smoothbore cannon on our tables, we will feed you to a Tyranid.

Welcome to the official online home of the Greenock & District Wargames Club (GDWC)!

Whether you play Warhammer 40k, BattleTech, Star Wars (Legion, X-Wing, Shatterpoint), Dropzone Commander, or historical and skirmish systems, GDWC is being established as an inclusive, system-agnostic club for tabletop enthusiasts across Inverclyde and the surrounding areas.

We are currently taking the foundational steps to get regular tabletop sessions up and running, and we need two key things:

  • New Members: If you are a veteran wargamer, returning to the hobby, or completely new and curious to learn, register an account here on the board! Introduce yourself in our Welcome & Introductions board and let us know what systems you play or want to get to the table.
